Review: V for Vendetta
"Remember, remember, the fifth of november…"
Went to the movies last night, expecting to see a cool flick with Nathalie Portman sporting her new, shaved head. I came out having seen a cool flick with Nathalie Portman and her new, shaved head, but also with something more. I came out feeling strong, feeling free.
The first thing, the first little detail, that struck me was that this was a movie NOT set anywhere in the united states. This was all London, this was all british. Even the fact that in the first couple of minutes, the USA had already been referred to as “an ungodly country” made me chuckle a bit in my seat. It’s very refreshing to see Good Cop not look like Brad Pitt, and not seeing Hugo Weavings face at all was also kinde of a ballsy move. Reminds me of Phone Booth, where Kiefer Sutherland stole the entire movie from the other side of a telephone line.
All in all, it’s a great story and an awesome movie. I’d give it 4 out of 5, which is damn good in my book.
Now, what are you waiting for. Go get yourself tickets to see it!
